Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

1. Who we are

These terms are between you and Varn ("Varn", "we", "us"). Varn is the seller's legal business name and the trading name under which the service is provided. By creating an account or continuing to use the Varn platform, you agree to these terms, and you are contracting with Varn for the supply of the service. If you use Varn on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business.

Varn can be contacted via our contact page.

2. The service

Varn is a web application that helps fire safety professionals produce structured assessments of risk, fire door surveys and compartmentation survey reports, including AI-assisted narrative and Word/PDF export. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your selected plan.

3. Payments and subscriptions

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew monthly unless cancelled. New accounts include a 7-day free trial; you will not be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.

4. Acceptable use

You must not misuse the service, including:

  • Using the service for any unlawful purpose, fraud or spam.
  • Infringing intellectual property rights of others.
  • Interfering with the security of the service, introducing malware, probing, or scraping it.
  • Reverse engineering, reselling, or circumventing technical limits of your plan.

You are responsible for the accuracy of prompts, notes and content you enter, for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated narrative, and for ensuring you have the rights to any content (including photos and logos) you upload. Reports produced by the service must be reviewed by a competent person before being issued.

5. Your account and content

You must keep your login credentials confidential and are responsible for activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You retain ownership of your report content; you grant us a limited licence to host and process it solely to provide the service.

6. Intellectual property

We retain all ownership of the service and its intellectual property, including software, templates, documentation and branding. Nothing in these terms transfers that ownership to you.

7. Service level and warranties

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. AI-generated content may be inaccurate and is not a substitute for professional judgement.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect, consequential or special damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. When access ends, you may export your reports for a reasonable period before your data is deleted.

10. General

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for failure to perform due to events beyond its reasonable control.

Questions about these terms can be sent via our contact page.
